Alpacas

One of the things that mom & I hoped to do before she passed was to visit a friend of her’s alpacas farm

Alpacas from Eighth & Mud

Mom thought since I can’t wear sheep wool, that alpaca wool would be perfect for me.

Alpaca Fibers

Alpaca fleece is a lustrous and silky natural fiber. While similar to sheep’s wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and having no lanolin makes it hypoallergenic.   Alpaca is naturally water-repellent.  Huacaya, an alpaca that grows soft spongy fiber, has natural crimp thus making a naturally elastic yarn well-suited for knitting, weaving, crocheting and felting.  Alpaca fibre is as soft as Cashmere, but has a smoother cuticle that can make the fibre feel smoother.

Tours

We invite all fibre groups, weavers, spinners, knitter’s guilds, crochet and felting enthusiasts to contact us about visiting our farm.

The Fiber Shop

All products in our store are made from Alpaca fibre along with various specialty blends of Silk, Bamboo, Cashmere and other exotic blends.
